Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Magenear ("we", "us") collects when you visit magenear.com or purchase Malware Monitor, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What the Extension Does NOT Collect
The Malware Monitor Magento extension does not:
- Send scanned file data to our servers.
- Send scan results, threat logs, or admin reports externally.
- Collect your customers' personal information.
- Make outbound network connections to Magenear or any analytics service.
- Require an internet connection to function.
All scanning logic, threat databases, and reports live entirely within your Magento installation.
2. What We Collect on magenear.com
Analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage (page views, referrers, country-level location). IP addresses are anonymized. No individual tracking.
Contact forms. If you email us or use a contact form, we retain your name, email, and message to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to marketing lists without explicit consent.
Purchase data. Transactions are processed by Stripe. We receive your name, email, and billing country to issue your license and provide support. We never see or store your card details — those are handled by Stripe under their own Privacy Policy.
3. License Key Validation
Malware Monitor uses offline license validation. Your key is validated locally against a cryptographic signature bundled with the extension. No activation request is ever sent to our servers. There is no "phone home" mechanism.
4. How We Use Your Data
- To deliver your license key and order confirmation.
- To provide technical support.
- To send important product updates (security patches, major releases). You can opt out any time.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention
We retain your purchase record (name, email, license, order amount) for up to 5 years for accounting and legal compliance. Support correspondence is retained for 3 years. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
7. GDPR — Your Rights (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is consent-based, withdraw it at any time.
8. Contact
To exercise your rights or for any privacy question, email us at [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
